Abstract:
An adjustable length storage bag which is constructed of a substantially
transparent plastic sleeve that has a first end equipped with the
zipper-type closure device and a second end equipped with an adhesive
layer on an inner periphery of the sleeve for adhesively joining a second
bag in order to store food items of a larger length.Claims:
1. An adjustable length storage bag comprising:a substantially transparent
plastic sleeve having a first end and a second end;a zipper type closure
device at said first end, andan adhesive layer on an inner periphery of
said second end having a depth of at least 1/8 inch measured from said
second end for joining said bag to a second storage bag when a larger
length is required.
2. The adjustable length storage bag according to claim 1 further comprising a strip of release film on said adhesive layer.
3. The adjustable length storage bag according to claim 1, wherein said adhesive layer having a depth of at least 1/4 inch.
4. The adjustable length storage bag according to claim 1, wherein said adhesive layer having a depth of at least 3/8 inch.
5. The adjustable length storage bag according to claim 1, wherein said substantially transparent plastic sleeve is formed of a clear plastic film.
Description:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001]The present invention generally relates to a food storage bag and more particularly, relates to a food storage bag that has adjustable length.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002]Food storage bags are one of the most used kitchen accessory in any household. Food storage bags are supplied in many different sizes, for instance, quart size, gallon size, etc. However, there are times that the food item to be stored may be too long for any sized bags. It is therefore desirable to provide a storage bag that has adjustable length such that a food item of extended length may be stored therein.
[0003]It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a food storage bag that has adjustable length.
[0004]It is another object of the present invention to provide a storage bag that has a zipper closure at one end, and an adhesive closure at the other end.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005]In accordance with the present invention, an adjustable length storage bag is provided.
[0006]In a preferred embodiment, the present invention adjustable length storage bag is constructed of a substantially transparent plastic sleeve that has a first end and a second end; a zipper-mesh type closure device that the first end, and an adhesive layer on an inner periphery of the second end that has a depth of at least 1/8 inch measured from the second end for joining the bag to a second storage bag when a larger length is required.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0007]The invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
[0008]FIG. 1 is a perspective view of two of the present invention adjustable length storage bags joined together.
[0009]FIG. 2 is a partial, cross-sectional view illustrating the adhesive joint between the two storage bags.
[0010]FIG. 3 is another perspective view of the present invention storage bags shown in FIG. 1 with the two bags separated before joining.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0011]The present invention discloses an adjustable length storage bag that is capable of storing food items of a large length.
[0012]The present invention adjustable length storage bag is a food storage bag that can accommodate different sizes of food items, as well as other than food items. The present invention adjustable length storage bag is equipped with a zipper-type closure at one end of a plastic sleeve. The opposite end of the plastic sleeve is provided with an adhesive strip which has a peel-off protective covering. In use, a person can place a food item into the bag, if the particular item is too long to efficiently close the zipper-type closure, the user can simply place a second bag on the opened end and seal it with the adhesive strip.
[0013]The present invention adjustable length storage bag ensures a user that food items can be wrapped and sealed in a bag that has sufficient length. The bag can keep food items fresh for a longer period of time.
[0014]The present invention adjustable length food storage bag fulfills the need for a convenient means of sealing food items of a larger length to keep them fresh. The appealing features of the present invention storage bag are its convenience, practicality, effectiveness, durability, ease of use, lightweight, and adjustable length. It provides individuals with a more convenient way to store and seal food items, particularly larger and bulkier food items. It eliminates the hassle of manipulating a food storage bag to fit a particular storage need.
[0015]Referring initially to FIG. 1, wherein a present invention adjustable length storage bag 10 is shown in a perspective view. The adjustable length storage bag 10 is constructed of a substantially transparent plastic sleeve 20 which has a first end 22 and a second end 24. A zipper-type closure device 30 is provided at the first end 22, while an adhesive layer 40 is provided on an inner periphery 26 of the second end 24 which has a depth of at least 1/8 inch measured from the second end 24 for joining the bag to a second storage bag 50. This is shown in FIG. 1. A strip of a release film (not shown) is sued to cover the adhesive layer 40 prior to the adhesive layer being deployed on another bag. When the present invention storage bag 10 is to be used by itself, the release film can be simply removed and the end 24 can be closed onto itself forming a sealed end, and food item may be placed into the bag 10 through the first end 22, or the end that is equipped with the zipper-type closure device 30. Once the food item is placed into bag, the zipper-type closure can be closed to securely contain the food item.
[0016]FIG. 2 is an enlarged-cross-sectional view illustrating the adhesive layer 40 functions to adhere the storage bag 50 onto the storage bag 10 forming a longer bag for storing food items of extra length.
[0017]FIG. 3 is another perspective view illustrating the present invention adjustable length storage bag 10 and 50 prior to the joining of the two bags such as that shown in FIG. 1 to store a food item 60. The strip of release film 70 is shown in FIG. 3.
[0018]The present invention adjustable length storage bag has therefore been amply described in the above descriptions and in the appended drawings of FIGS. 1-3.
[0019]While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications can be made in the invention and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
