Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] This invention relates to a combination structure of a machine case, particularly to one that is a half-width rack-type machine case.
[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art
[0004] Generally, industrial rack-type machine cases, which need to be installed in an equipment cabinet, are restricted to a standard size. For instance, the standard width of each rack-type machine case is nineteen inches, and (U) is used as a unit for height.
[0005] The height specifications of machine cases include 1U, 2U, 4U and the like, and the lowest one 1U is 4.4 centimeters in height. Further, half-width type machine cases are developed and used, which are respectively a half of a standard width of a rack-type machine case and can be installed singly or combined together to form a full-width machine case (nineteen inches) to be installed for use. A conventional rack-type machine case, referring to FIG. 1, includes two half-width type machine cases respectively provided with a base board 1, which has opposite sides respectively formed with a recessed groove 2 having a bottom side bored with a plurality of threaded holes 3. To assemble these half-width machine cases together, two half-width machine cases are first juxtaposed in parallel and then an iron plate 4 is assembled in the adjacent recessed grooves 2 of the two base boards 1. Subsequently, a plurality of bolts 5 are respectively inserted through the insert holes of the iron plate 4 and screwed in the threaded holes 3 to secure the iron plate 4 in the two adjacent recessed grooves 2. For combining two half-width machine cases together with great stability, the opposite sides of the iron plate 4 need to use more bolts 5 that are to be screwed spaced apart for firmly locking the iron plate 4 in the two adjacent recessed grooves. So its assemblage is complicated, taking a lot of time and also causing much inconvenience when the two half-width machine cases are to be disassembled.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] The objective of this invention is to offer a structure for combining two sets of half-width rack-type machine cases to form a full-width machine case. Each half-width type machine case has one side plate provided with at least one positioning member and another opposite side plate bored with receiving holes at the locations respectively corresponding with the positioning members. By so designing, two half-width type machine cases can be combined into a full-width type machine case by mutual engagement of the positioning members of one half-width machine case and the receiving holes of another. To assemble or disassemble a full-width machine case, simply have the positioning members of one half-width type machine case engaged in or disengaged from the receiving holes of another half-width type machine case, simple and convenient in assembling and disassembling.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0007] This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
[0008] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of two sets of conventional half-width machine cases to be combined together;
[0009] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of two sets of half-width rack type machine cases to be combined into a full-width one in the present invention; and
[0010] FIG. 3 is a schematic view of two sets of half-width rack type machine cases combined into a full-width one in the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0011] A preferred embodiment of a structure for combining two sets of half-width rack type machine cases to form a full-width one in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, includes two rectangular half-width type machine cases 10 adjacent and juxtaposed to be combined together. Each half-width type machine case 10 has a front and a rear section of one side plate respectively formed with a threaded hole 11 for receiving a corresponding positioning member 12 that is pivotally provided with a rotary member 13 at the top portion. In this preferred embodiment, the positioning member 12 is a bolt and the rotary member 13 is a bearing, and thus the positioning members 12 can be threadably locked on the side plate of the machine case 10. Further, another opposite side plate of the half-width type machine case 10 is bored with receiving holes 14 at the locations respectively corresponding with the positioning members 12 so that the positioning members 12 can be engaged and fitted therein. In this preferred embodiment, the receiving hole 14 includes a round hole 141 and an extension hole 142 communicating with the round hole 141, and the hole diameter of the round hole 141 is approximately the same as the maximum diametrical width of the rotary member 13, while the hole diameter of the extension hole 142 is a little smaller than the maximum diametrical width of the rotary member 13. Therefore, when the two half-width machine cases 10 are to be combined together, firstly, the positioning members 12 are respectively positioned in the receiving holes 14, and then the rotary members 13 are transversely moved from the round holes 141 to the extension holes 142 to have the positioning members 12 engaged and positioned in the extension hole 142 to finish combining two sets of half-width machine cases together to make up a full-width machine case.
[0012] In order to have two half-width machine cases 10 connected more closely, two half-width machine cases are respectively provided with a back plate 15 abutting and connecting the side plate, and having lower two sides respectively bored with a locking hole 16. When the two half-width machine cases 10 are juxtaposed and combined, two locking members 18 are respectively inserted through two insert holes 171 of a linking member 17 and locked in the locking holes 16 of the two abutting half-width machine cases 10. In this preferred embodiment, the linking member 17 is a rectangular iron plate, the locking holes 16 are threaded holes while the locking members 18 are bolts.
[0013] While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
