Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a kit and method to extract the gold from a computer at home.
[0003] 2. Description of Related Art
[0004] The price of gold has skyrocketed over the past few years making the purchase of gold a rare occasion. Many people are profiting by selling their old jewelry pieces that they no longer use or need. Also, there is a growing industry to recover precious metals from scrap metal and electronic components. Gold, silver and platinum can all be extracted and then sold for profit. With many of the recovery businesses, the person simply sends their items to the recovery location and receives the precious metals back in the mail. From there they may choose to turn the gold into jewelry or sell it to a dealer.
[0005] Recently, recovering gold and other precious metals from computer parts has been a growing trend. This process is more complicated than recovering the metals from scrap, because the parts are extracted by either exposure to high temperatures or chemicals. For this reason, home extraction is often difficult and dangerous. Most people do not have the tools required to perform the intricate task, or knowledge on where to even find the gold. Since either very high temperatures or exposure to harmful chemicals are the main recovery methods, safety is a concern to ensure that the person does not burn themselves during the process.
[0006] Therefore, it would be beneficial in the art to provide a kit that provides all the tools necessary for a person to recover precious metals at home. It would also be desirable in the art for the kit to include a list of step-by-step instructions to teach the user how to recover gold safely and effectively.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the general purpose of the present invention is to provide a precious metal recovery kit to extract gold from computer parts, configured to include all of the advantages of the prior art, and to overcome the drawbacks inherent therein.
[0008] Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a gold recovery kit that includes all the tools and instruments needed to recover gold at home.
[0009] Another object of the present invention is to provide a gold recovery kit that includes an instructional DVD to teach the user where to find the gold and how to recover it.
[0010] To achieve the above objects, in an aspect of the present invention, a gold recover kit is described comprising a set of containers, a precious metal recover solution, a plurality of cloths to strain the gold into at least one container; a grabbing tool to pick up the gold after straining, a metal cutter to break up the computer parts, and a set of instructions.
[0011] These together with other aspects of the present invention, along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed hereto and form a part of this present invention. For a better understanding of the present invention, its operating advantages, and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be made to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012] The advantages and features of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following detailed description and claims taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
[0013] FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of a gold recovery kit in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; and
[0014] FIG. 2 depicts a flowchart of a method to recover gold in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0015] The present invention relates to a kit and method to extract the gold from a computer at home. The present invention provides a gold recovery kit to recover precious metals from computer parts. The gold recovery kit includes various pieces of equipment to extract and isolate the gold. Further, the kit includes an instructional disc to instruct the user where to find gold and how to extract it. The gold may be extracted from parts like a motherboard, SIM cards, central processing units (CPUs) or other processing chips. With the gold recovery kit the user is able to easily and conveniently extract gold in the comfort of their home.
[0016] Turning now descriptively to the drawings, referring to FIG. 1, a gold recovery kit 100 is to extract gold from a computer part shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The gold recovery kit 100 includes a set of containers 10. The containers 10 may be glass beakers, flasks, cups, jars or the like. Preferably, three containers 10 may be used; one holds a gold recover solution, and the other two are for straining. Along with the set of containers 10, the gold recovery kit 100 includes a set of small cloths 20. The cloths 20 are used to strain the gold from the computer parts. The cloths 20 are preferably made from silk for a fine mesh fabric. Four cloths 20 may be included to completely isolate the gold from the other debris.
[0017] Once the gold is isolated, a pair of needle nose pliers 30 is used to remove the gold from the cloth 20. After extraction, the gold 54 may be placed into a vial 50 for storage. The vial 50 may include a lid 52 to prevent spilling the gold 54. Because the computer parts must be broken or clipped into smaller parts, a pair of tin cutters 40 or metal cutters is included in the gold recovery kit 100.
[0018] An instructional DVD or CD 60 is included with the gold recover kit 100 to provide instructions for the user on how to recover the gold safely and effectively. The CD 60 also informs the user which computer parts contain the precious metal. With the gold recovery kit 100 the user is provided everything they need to recover gold at home.
[0019] Referring now to FIG. 2, a method to recover gold 200 using the gold recovery kit is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. First, the user cuts the PC parts 202 into small pieces using the tin cutters. The small pieces are placed into a first container that includes the recover solution 204. The small pieces may remain in the solution for at least 24 hours to remove the gold from the PC parts. After soaking, the small computer parts are removed from the recovery solution with the needle nose pliers 208. Next, a cloth is wrapped on the top of a second container 206. The solution and gold pieces are then poured from the first container, over the cloth and into the second container 210. The gold pieces will get trapped on the cloth. For a second straining, the cloth is then removed from the top of the second container and wrapped atop a third container 212. The solution from the second container is then poured into the third container 214. The gold is left on the cloth on top of the third container. Water may then be poured over the cloth 216 to remove all remaining recovery solution. Finally, the gold is dried and the user may place the recovered gold piece into the vial for later use. The entire recovery process is simple and easy to perform at home with all the tools provided in the gold recovery kit.
[0020] The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
