20160135796 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SEALING A VASCULAR PUNCTURE - A closure system for delivering a sealant to an arteriotomy. A distal section of the closure system can include overlapping inner and outer sleeves that can expand with expansion of the sealant. A proximal section of the closure system can include a handle portion and a sheath adapter extending from the handle portion. The handle portion can comprise one or more actuators that when depressed or engaged can assist in deployment of the sealant in the arteriotomy and can further include tamping of the sealant and/or retraction of an expandable member. The sheath adapter can removably engage a side port or an irrigation line of a standard procedural sheath. When the sheath adapter is secured to the procedural sheath, movement of the closure system can also move the procedural sheath. | 05-19-2016 |
20160120526 | VASCULAR CLOSURE APPARATUS AND RELATED METHOD - A vascular closure device includes both a mechanical component and a biological component for sealing an arteriotomy. The mechanical component reduces the size or closes the arteriotomy. The biological component covers and fills any spaces or cracks present after the arteriotomy has been mechanically reduced in size. An exemplary embodiment includes a suture or clip to approximate the edges of the arteriotomy, and a smooth rounded plug is advanced along the suture towards the closed arteriotomy. In situ, the plug transforms to a flowable or gel state and fills and covers any cracks and spaces along the closed arteriotomy. | 05-05-2016 |
20150351732 | APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR SEALING A PUNCTURE IN TISSUE - An occlusion device for sealing a puncture through tissue includes a tubular wire member having a proximal end, a distal end sized for insertion into the puncture, a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends, a port adjacent the proximal end communicating with the 5 lumen, and a balloon on the distal end. A source of fluid is connectable to the wire member for delivering fluid via the port into the lumen for expanding the balloon. A fluid loading device is disposed on the proximal end of the wire member to receive the source of fluid and to deliver fluid within the lumen into the balloon to expand the balloon. | 12-10-2015 |
20150297202 | APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR SEALING A VASCULAR PUNCTURE - Apparatus for sealing a puncture communicating with a blood vessel includes a porous carrier formed from lyophilized hydrogel or other material. The plug may include at least first and second hydrogel precursors and a pH adjusting agent carried by the porous carrier in an unreactive state prior to exposure to an aqueous physiological environment. Once exposed to bodily fluids, the carrier expands as the lyophilized material hydrates to enhance and facilitate rapid hemostasis of the puncture. When the plug is placed into the puncture, the natural wetting of the plug by bodily fluids (e.g., blood) causes the first and second precursors to react and cross-link into an adhesive or “sticky” hydrogel that aids in retaining the plug in place within the puncture. | 10-22-2015 |
20150133892 | METHOD AND DEVICES FOR FLOW OCCLUSION DURING DEVICE EXCHANGES - A method of reducing the risk of clinical sequelae to catheter induced vascular injuries may include introducing a guide wire into a vascular sheath residing in a blood vessel, proximally retracting the vascular sheath while leaving the wire in place, and observing indicia of the presence or absence of a vascular injury caused to the blood vessel by the vascular sheath or a procedural catheter previously advanced through the vascular sheath. If indicia of a vascular injury are observed, the method may further involve proximally retracting the guide wire to position the inflatable balloon adjacent the injury and inflating the balloon to reduce blood flow past the injury, while leaving the guide wire in place to provide subsequent access to the injury. The inflatable balloon can be inflated and deflated through a valve positioned at the proximal end of the guide wire. | 05-14-2015 |
