20140287139 | EXTRUSION-BASED ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING - A method of manufacturing an object. A thermoplastic matrix material is melted to transform it into liquid matrix material. The liquid matrix material is fed into a chamber via one or more matrix inlets. A fibre is also fed into the chamber via a fibre inlet. The fibre in the chamber is contacted by the liquid matrix material. A coated fibre is extruded from an extrusion outlet of the chamber onto a substrate, the coated fibre comprising the fibre with a coating of the liquid matrix material, the substrate comprising a previously extruded coated fibre. The fibre moves in and out of the chamber at the same velocity relative to the chamber. The coating fuses with the previously extruded coated fibre and solidifies after it has fused with the previously extruded coated fibre. Relative movement is generated between the extrusion outlet and the substrate as the coated fibre is extruded from the extrusion outlet. | 09-25-2014 |

20140101088 | Collaborative Decision Making - A computer implemented method of generating decision options. Sensor data is received from a plurality of sensors and presented visually to two or more users. Those users can then analyse the images and enter tag data which is received and stored along with the sensor data. The sensor and tag data are then input to a computer implemented decision support algorithm along with a stored operational plan. The algorithm then outputs one or more decision options which can assist a human decision maker in making a decision. The invention enables such a decision maker to make a decision quickly which complies with a previously stored operational plan and is likely to be correct since it is based on inputs from multiple human users. The invention is capable of being easily scaled to deal with a high volume of sensor data and a large number of users. | 04-10-2014 |
20140057084 | COMPOSITE MATERIAL - In a method of manufacturing a composite material, a catalyst material is patterned within a deposition area to form an array of catalyst regions. A first array of bundles of filaments is grown on the catalyst regions. Adjacent filaments in the bundle are spaced by an inter-filament gap. Adjacent bundles are spaced in the array by an inter-bundle gap substantially free of filaments. The free tips of the filaments are drawn together within each bundle, so that the inter-filament gaps become smaller at the tip of each bundle than at the base of each bundle where the filaments remain attached to the catalyst region. These steps are repeated to provide a second array of bundles of filaments. The second array are positioned or grown at least partly in the inter-bundle gaps of the first array. The inter-filament gaps and inter-bundle gaps of both arrays are impregnated with a matrix material. | 02-27-2014 |
20130254148 | METHOD OF MEASUREMENT USING FUSION OF INFORMATION - It is often necessary to make the best possible measurement of an object given a set of approximate assessments of its true state. As states change over time, or more information is made available, the set of assessments of the relative likelihood of the various possibilities has to be revised. An example might be the identification of an observed object such as a person or an aircraft, or the generation of a weather forecast from several pieces of information distributed in time or place, or both. The invention relates to methods for making the best possible measurement of an object, described by a powerset T, given uncertain data in terms of the elements of the powerset m | 09-26-2013 |
