20110282462 | HIP-JOINT PROSTHESIS - A method of optimizing the geometry of a femoral stem of a hip joint prosthesis is disclosed. The femoral stem comprises a neck and an anchoring blade that is attached to the neck and that tapers towards a distal end with a lateral narrow side comprising a distal straight portion and a proximal arcuate portion corresponding to a curve. The transition between the distal straight portion and the proximal arcuate portion occurs at an outer lateral point. The method comprises a means of optimizing the profile of the curve of said proximal arcuate portion by a process of iterative modeling steps using a series of curves each defined by a path traced by the outer lateral point on withdrawal of a profile of the stem from a cavity of complementary shape to the stem. Preferably, during withdrawal of the profile of the stem from the cavity contact between lateral-distal and proximal-medial stem contours and respective associated boundaries of the cavity are maintained. A femoral stem of a hip joint prosthesis produced by this method and a hip joint prosthesis system for use in the implantation of said femoral stem into a femur are also disclosed. | 11-17-2011 |
20110087230 | ACCESSORY FOR IMPLANTING A HIP ENDOPROSTHESIS, AND METHOD FOR MANIPULATING THE SAME - The application relates to a method of orienting a bone-milling cutter and an impact instrument for a hip-prosthesis cup in an acetabulum. The method includes initially positioning a manipulation cup by a manipulation joint head and representing this position by at least one guide rod or fixation rod that is fixed in a bone. The method also includes removing the manipulation cup and adjusting a position of both the bone-milling cutter and the impact instrument with respect to either the guide rod itself or a guide rod that is attached to a holding device disposed on at least one fixation rod. | 04-14-2011 |

20090222089 | LIGAMENT-TENSIONING DEVICE - Ligament-tensioning device for activation of the ligament and/or capsule system in the implantation of a joint implant, having a distal bearing plate for bearing against a distal skeletal part and having first and second proximal bearing plates, each of which partially overlaps the distal bearing plate in a first in-use position, for bearing against a proximal skeletal part, and having means for relative displacement of the proximal bearing plates to increase their spacing from the distal bearing plate. The displacement means have a scissor-type guide means that supports the respective proximal bearing plate in the ventral-dorsal as well as the medial-lateral parallel position with respect to the distal bearing plate. | 09-03-2009 |
