20090022431 | Resizable food container - A container, or package, that is separable for resizing the container after the contents are partially consumed. One or more mid-package separable seals are positioned between the top and bottom of a package. The seal in the sealed configuration flexibly provides package integrity with an air-tight seal and connection. In the operated configuration, the seal separates the package into two sections, allowing the package to assume a size that is suitable for the volume of material remaining. In one embodiment, the mid-package separable seal includes a sealing strip that is adhesively attached to the outside of the package and covers a tear line/strip formed in the material of the package. Removal of the sealing strip allows the tear line to separate the package into two sections. In another embodiment, a connecting strip is attached to two sections of the package and the connecting strip has an integral tear line. | 01-22-2009 |

The resealable evacuable bag comprises: a receptacle having an interior volume and a mouth that allows communication between an exterior and the interior volume, the receptacle comprising flexible front and rear walls and a flexible gusseted bottom; a resealable closure installed in the mouth; a one-way valve mounted to a hole in the front wall; and a rigid or semi-rigid board loosely disposed inside and freely removable from the receptacle and in contact with the gusseted bottom. | 03-26-2009 |
20090252440 | ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD OF MAKING A BAG USING A VISION SYSTEM ARRANGEMENT - A system and method for making bags in a continuous in-line process includes a central processing unit and a camera oriented to take an image of a bag based on a triggering signal. The camera provides an image to the central processing unit. The central processing unit is programmed to process the image and calculate a timing signal based on the image. A cylindrical rotatable drum having at least one seal bar provides a triggering signal to the central processing unit, to trigger when the camera should take the image. A perforation knife is controlled by a servo drive. The perforation knife is downstream of the drum. The servo drive receives the timing signal for activating the perforation knife from the central processing unit. The CPU uses the image and based on the distance between the seal region and the perforated line, counts pixels to result in an actual pixel count. The CPU then calculates a pixel count error by subtracting the actual pixel count from a predetermined pixel count setpoint. This information is then used by the CPU to either advance or retard the perforated knife in its perforation step. This results in a bag having a shorter skirt length, which reduces waste and cost. In another embodiment, the image taken is of the seal region only, and based on the image, the CPU either advances or retards the perforation knife in the perforation step, downstream of the point in which the image was taken. | 10-08-2009 |

20110103715 | Bags of Life - A combination of shopping bags designed to be used instead of plastic carrier bags. The set start off as several slightly smaller subsidiary bags being carried in one main larger bag. The smaller bags collapse flat and fit within the larger bag. The front and back and bottom of all the bags are quite rigid, being lined with semi rigid/rigid material. The side panels are flexible and fold into the bag enabling the bag to easily collapse flat by pushing the bottom semi rigid/rigid panel up. The semi rigid/rigid section secured in the bottom of the bags flips up to allow them to fold flat. On filling, the bottom drops down to give the bag a boxy rigidity. When the bags are collapsed flat, they require no reshaping and they slide easily into the larger bag ready for reuse. | 05-05-2011 |
20110286687 | PARTICULATE MATERIAL RETAINING BAG FOR WALL CONSTRUCTION AND EROSION CONTROL - This invention relates to a composite bag for use in earth bag construction systems such as backfill pack systems in underground mines and a construction system using such bags. The composite bags each comprises a pair of long, narrow inner bags of woven polypropylene located longitudinally within and constrained along their length by an outer bag of woven polypropylene. In use, the composite bags are laid flat on top of one another on a working surface (for instance the footwall in an underground mine). The bags could be glued or otherwise attached to one another in this configuration. Tie elements, such as timber elongates, are threaded through aligned slits spaced apart along the length of the bags. The elongates are set against the hanging wall and a backfill slurry is pumped into the inner bags. As each inflating composite bag expands, the slurry water weeps from the bags which rise up the timber elongates during the pumping process. The size differential between the two inner bags and the outer bag gives rise to the formation of a relatively straight line abutment between the two inner bags to provide a stable wall-like structure such as a mine ventilation wall or a backfill pack, as illustrated. | 11-24-2011 |
