20150266750 | SOLAR-POWERED DESALINATION SYSTEM - The solar-powered desalination system includes a double-walled tank, the inner and outer walls defining a condensation chamber therebetween. The lower portion of the tank provides a thermally insulated storage volume for saltwater, and the upper portion forms an evaporation chamber. Warm saltwater is sprayed upward into the evaporation chamber so that the resulting water vapor passes to the top of the tank and down between the two walls, where it condenses. Condensate is drained off by an outlet at the bottom of the condensation chamber between the two tank walls. A solar collector warms the saltwater before it enters the lower part of the tank. No energy is required, as the water circulates due to a thermosiphon effect. The only energy required is to operate the pump for the internal spray system. Optionally, a heating element may be installed in the bottom of the tank. | 09-24-2015 |

20140238839 | DESALINATION SYSTEM - The solar, water desalination system includes a desalination chamber where fine water droplets are injected upward by an air atomizer towards an air-cooled condenser. Hot saline water is ejected vertically upward to double the contact time between the droplets and the surrounding air. The air is preheated by solar energy in parallel with an auxiliary heater to prevent lowering of the droplet temperature. Pumped air functions as a condensation media and to pull the salt water into the atomizer. This arrangement improves the heat and mass transfer inside the desalination chamber. | 08-28-2014 |

20140269198 | Beamforming Sensor Nodes And Associated Systems - A beamforming sensor node has an array of pressure wave sensors and beamforming circuitry. Each pressure wave sensor is configured within a unique processing channel including a time delay circuit for producing a signal, with a phase offset, representative of received pressure waves at said pressure wave sensor. The beamforming circuitry includes the time delay circuits for all processing channels and (a) sets the phase offset of each processing channel and (b) parallel processes all signals from the array of pressure wave sensors through respective time delay circuits to form a first coherent beam-formed signal from the node. A secondary beamforming node combines coherent beam-formed signals from the plurality of sensor nodes to produce a combined acoustic signal representative of received pressure waves at all sensor nodes. | 09-18-2014 |

20130282072 | AED FASTER TIME TO SHOCK METHOD AND DEVICE - An automated external defibrillator (AED) and methods for reducing the delay between termination of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and administration of a defibrillating shock, among other disclosed apparatus and methods. In one embodiment, the AED includes an ECG sensor that obtains an ECG signal corresponding to patient heart activity and a prompting device that provides instructions regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The AED also has a control system including a microprocessor programmed to run two rhythm analysis algorithms after instructions to terminate CPR. The two rhythm analysis algorithms analyze segments of the ECG signal for recognizing the presence of a shockable rhythm, with one algorithm having a delayed start relative to the other algorithm. The AED additionally includes a therapy generation circuit for treating the shockable rhythm with a defibrillation pulse in response to the control system determining the presence of a shockable rhythm. | 10-24-2013 |

20100203553 | Histochemical and biomarker for liver fibrosis - The histochemical and biomarker for liver fibrosis is a technique for determining the existence and extent of liver fibrosis by evaluating the extent of peptidylarginine deiminase (PAD) activity by immunological methods. The method is illustrated using liver biopsy. A small section of tissue from a liver biopsy is incubated overnight with a monoclonal antibody specific to PAD, stained, and examined microscopically. The number of hepatocytes that positively express PAD activity per one hundred hepatocytes is counted and expressed as a percentage. The percentage of PAD activity is then correlated with a METAVIR fibrosis score according to results from a statistically significant reference population. The degree of liver fibrosis and an appropriate treatment regimen may then be determined. | 08-12-2010 |
