20140276150 | Apparatus for Acoustic Measurements of Physiological Signals with Automated Interface Controls - This invention is concerned with a method and apparatus for measuring and controlling the quality of physiological acoustic signals, which include tracheal breathing sounds, lung sounds, heart sounds, blood flow sounds, joint sounds, and gastrointestinal sounds. The interface between the skin and the device is carefully controlled to achieve a desirable acoustic coupling. A pneumatic feedback control system automatically adjusts of the pressure applied to the skin; another pneumatic control system adjusts the pressure inside an airtight chamber for housing the acoustic sensor. A processor assesses the signal qualities, such as amplitude and frequency spectrum, and provides feedback controls to the interface if needed. The resulting method and apparatus eliminates operator's variability and acquires physiological acoustic signals with consistent and desirable qualities for various medical diagnostic purposes. | 09-18-2014 |

20120099112 | Multi-core low reflection lateral output fiber probe - Multi-core optical fiber probe includes a multi-core optical fiber (and method of manufacturing the probe) including a plurality of cores adjacent a cladding material, and a plurality of angled reflectors disposed at a distal end of the cores. An angled reflector of the plurality of angled reflectors deflects light propagating in the core at a deflection angle that is different from an axis of light propagation in the core. Light propagating toward a distal end of the core of the multi-core probe is emitted, after reflection by the corresponding reflector, out of the multi-core optical fiber probe. | 04-26-2012 |

20120157284 | FOLDING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF FOLDING A PRODUCT - An apparatus for folding a product includes a receiving roll having a first direction of rotation. The receiving roll is adapted to selectively hold first and second portions of the product. A folding roll of the apparatus has a second direction of rotation that is opposite from the first direction of rotation. The folding roll is adapted to selectively hold the first portion of the product thereto. An oscillating member is adapted to transfer the first portion of the product from the receiving roll to the folding roll. The oscillating member is configured to move in both the first direction and the second direction. | 06-21-2012 |
20120157286 | FOLDING APPARATUS HAVING ROLLS WITH VARIABLE SURFACE SPEEDS AND A METHOD OF FOLDING A PRODUCT - An apparatus for folding a product having a first portion and a second portion has a receiving roll with a drive assembly for rotating the receiving roll at variable surface speeds in a first direction of rotation. The receiving roll is adapted to selectively hold the first and second portions of the product thereto. A folding roll has a drive assembly for rotating the folding roll at variable surface speeds in a second, opposite direction of rotation. The folding roll is adapted to selectively hold the first portion of the product thereto. An oscillating member is adapted to transfer the first portion of the product from the receiving roll to the folding roll. The oscillating member has a drive assembly for moving the oscillating member at variable surface speeds in both the first direction and the second direction. | 06-21-2012 |
20120157288 | FOLDING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF FOLDING A PRODUCT - An apparatus for folding products has a conveying member configured to hold a first portion and a second portion of the product and to release the first portion while continuing to hold the second portion. The conveying member is configured to convey the product at a conveying speed. A folding assembly is disposed adjacent the conveying member. The folding assembly is configured to receive the first portion of the product from the conveying member while moving generally at the conveying speed, to decelerate relative to the conveying member while holding the first portion thereto thereby causing the product to fold about the fold axis, and to place the first portion of the product into contact with the second portion such that the first portion overlies the second portion. | 06-21-2012 |
20140171284 | FOLDING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF FOLDING A PRODUCT USING AN OSCILLATING MEMBER AND A FOLDING ROLL - An apparatus for folding products includes a conveying member adapted to convey the product, an oscillating member disposed adjacent the conveying member, and a folding roll disposed adjacent the conveying member and the oscillating member. The oscillating member is adapted to grasp and lift a first portion of the product from the conveying member while the product is being conveyed by the conveying member. The oscillating member is moveable in a first direction away from the conveying member and in a second direction toward the conveying member. The folding roll is adapted to receive the first portion of the product from the oscillating member and to place the first portion of the product into engagement with a second portion of the product such that the product is in a folded configuration. | 06-19-2014 |
