20150028751 | Battery Powered Light Source for Compartment Illumination - A battery powered LED light source is described for illuminating the inside of a dark enclosure when the enclosure is opened in an environment with ambient illumination. Drive circuitry adapted to the LED light source turns on the LEDs when levels of ambient light above a threshold are detected, which may occur if the light source is placed in a dark enclosure that is opened in a lit room. After being opened, the drive circuitry periodically strobes off the LED light source to take ambient light measurements without the contribution of its own LED light for determining if the enclosure has been closed and the LED light source should again be shut off. | 01-29-2015 |

20100177778 | DISTRIBUTED CONNECTION-ORIENTED SERVICES FOR SWITCHED COMMUNICATION NETWORKS - Method and apparatus providing connection-oriented services for packet switched data communications networks. Directory services include distributed discovery of MAC addresses and protocol alias addresses. Topology services include a link state topology exchange among switches, which provides each switch with a complete topology graph of the network. This enables an access switch receiving a data packet to determine a complete path from a source end system to a destination end system. Another service includes resolution of broadcast frames to unicast frames, in order to reduce the amount of broadcast traffic. Policy restrictions may be applied prior to connection setup. Path determination services enable multiple paths from a source to a destination. Connection management includes source routed mapping of connections on the desired path. A distributed call rerouting service is provided wherein if a link on an active path fails, each switch receives a topology change notification and unmaps any connection involving the failed link. A broadcast/unknown service provides restricted flooding of nonresolvable packets. Furthermore, connection-oriented switching is provided based on the source and destination MAC addresses as a connection identifier. Still further, resolution of networks outside the switch domain is enabled by access switches listening for network and server route advertisements and maintaining best routes to said networks and servers. The best route metrics may be combined with best path metrics to determine a path from a first access switch to an egress switch connected to the external network. | 07-15-2010 |

20080307081 | System and method for controlling non-compliant applications in an IP multimedia subsystem - A system and method that enables session-based and non-session-based application services to be controlled and managed within the IMS/NGN architecture. The IMS/NGN architecture includes a service layer and a transport layer. IMS service control functions are implemented within the service layer, and RACF and transport functions are implemented within the transport layer. The transport functions include access and core network functions, which have corresponding QoS resources. The access or core network function includes an application service control function (ASCF), which includes a PD-FE and a functional element for inspecting packet data flows, and identifying and classifying application services associated with the flows. The ASCF is employed to signal the IMS service control functions on behalf of non-session-based application services, and to reserve and allocate the QoS resources needed to support packet data flows associated with the non-session-based services. As a result, service providers can provide users or subscribers of such non-session-based services with guaranteed or differentiated QoS and/or differentiated service plans, thereby allowing charges to be calculated for the non-session-based services and service plans that are commensurate with the value of the respective service or plan. | 12-11-2008 |

20090187389 | Immersive Collaborative Environment Using Motion Capture, Head Mounted Display, and Cave - A collaborative visualization system integrates motion capture and virtual reality, along with kinematics and computer-aided design (CAD), for the purpose, for example, of evaluating an engineering design. A virtual reality simulator creates a full-scale, three-dimensional virtual reality simulation responsive to computer-aided design (CAD) data. Motion capture data is obtained from users simultaneously interacting with the virtual reality simulation. The virtual reality simulator animates in real time avatars responsive to motion capture data from the users. The virtual reality simulation, including the interactions of the one or more avatars and also objects, is displayed as a three-dimensional image in a common immersive environment using one or more head mounted displays so that the users can evaluate the CAD design to thereby verify that tasks associated with a product built according to the CAD design can be performed by a predetermined range of user sizes. | 07-23-2009 |
20090213114 | Portable Immersive Environment Using Motion Capture and Head Mounted Display - Embodiments of the present invention provide a collaborative visualization system, which integrates motion capture and virtual reality, along with kinematics and computer-aided design (CAD), for the purpose of, for example, virtual training on a task. A portable motion capture system tracks the movements of one or more trainers and records full-body motion capture data for one or more trainers performing one or more tasks. A virtual reality simulator receives the recorded motion capture data and animates scaled avatars within a three-dimensional virtual reality simulation responsive to recorded motion capture data. An immersive observation system displays the virtual reality simulation, including the animated avatars, as a three-dimensional image that appears to surround one or more trainees using one or more head mounted displays so that the one or more trainees can analyze the one or more tasks performed. | 08-27-2009 |
20090278917 | Providing A Collaborative Immersive Environment Using A Spherical Camera and Motion Capture - Embodiments of the present invention provide a collaborative visualization system, which integrates motion capture and virtual reality, along with kinematics and computer-aided design (CAD), for the purpose of, for example, validating a simulation with a real-world video. A spherical camera captures real-world video at a first location. At a second location, one or more head-mounted display devices display the captured real-world video and also display a simulation corresponding to the real-world video. A motion capture system captures head rotation information for one or more users to thereby to control a pan, tilt, and zoom of the real-world video so that when a position of a user's head changes, the portion of the real-world video displayed in the head-mounted display changes accordingly. Upon user input, a computer program product selects between displaying the real-world video and the simulation in the head-mounted display. | 11-12-2009 |
