20130146597 | Easy-Open Metal End for a Container, and Method for Making Same - An easy-open metal end and a method for making same, in which a pre-score coining operation is performed, followed by an operation to form a score line. The coining step uses gentle-radius tooling designed not to crack or cut a protective coating on the metal end. Between the coining step and the score line-forming step, a paneling step is performed to pull out the loose metal generated in the coining step, such that end tension can be controlled more easily than in a conventional process. The coining operation thins the metal, so the score line can have less penetration than, and therefore can be narrower than, a conventional score line. Consequently, even if the score line does rust, it will be very small in width and thus relatively unnoticeable. | 06-13-2013 |

20120329876 | METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR STABLE AND CONTROLLED DELIVERY OF (-)-HYDROXYCITRIC ACID - The present invention provides stable encapsulated (−)-hydroxycitric acid (“HCA”)-containing compositions and methods of making the same. A method is provided by which the hygroscopic salts of HCA in their relatively pure and active forms, including especially the potassium salt, but also including the sodium salt, are rendered non-hygroscopic and stable (that is, not prone to lactonization, not readily subject to attachment to ligands which inhibit absorption or lead to excretion, and so forth) such that these HCA salts might be included in dry delivery formats, liquid delivery and in controlled-release vehicles. The nonhygroscopic salts of HCA and its derivatives likewise may be protected against acid degradation, lactonization and undesirable ligand binding when exposed to acidic environments or other challenging conditions. The method taught herein can be employed to reduce the polar/ionic qualities of HCA salts and derivatives when presented to the intestinal lumen to provide advantages in absorption. | 12-27-2012 |

20110259831 | TRACKING REGULATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING COLUMNS - A processing column system includes an inlet, an outlet, a piston head and a piston pressure chamber for providing a controlled bed pressure to the piston head and thus to a substrate and/or liquid bed positioned within the column. A tracking regulator is in fluid communication with a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid and the piston pressure chamber as well as the inlet to the column. The tracking regulator receives a pressure of a process fluid flow into the processing column. The tracking regulator has a hydraulic fluid drain port in fluid communication with the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid. The tracking regulator directs hydraulic fluid from the piston pressure chamber to the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid when the tracking regulator detects a drop in the pressure of the process fluid flow. The source of pressurized hydraulic fluid provides to the tracking regulator a pressure equal to a set bed pressure of the system plus a maximum anticipated process flow pressure. The tracking regulator directs additional hydraulic fluid from the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the piston pressure chamber of the processing column so that a pressure therein is greater than the set bed pressure when the tracking regulator detects an increase in the pressure of the process fluid flow. | 10-27-2011 |
