20100201092 | TAG AXLE ATTACHMENT FOR AN OFF ROAD AGRICULTURAL APPLICATOR VEHICLE - The present invention provides a tag axle attachment for an off-road agricultural vehicle. The tag axle attachment allows agricultural vehicles to meet roadway weight restrictions imposed by the federal and state governments while also allowing the vehicle to perform optimally in the field. The tag axle is assembled such that it can be hydraulically lowered into a deployed position when the agricultural vehicle is on the roadway and hydraulically raised into a stowed position when the agricultural vehicle is in the field. The tag axle assembly is mounted to the chassis rails of an agricultural vehicle and positioned to fit between the chassis rails when stowed and minimizes the load per axle of the vehicle when deployed. | 08-12-2010 |

20140261138 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A ROBUST UNDERWATER VEHICLE - Systems and methods for a robust underwater vehicle are described herein. A robust underwater vehicle may include a force-limiting coupler connecting an actuation system to an actuation fin. The force-limiting coupler may be configured to break away from the actuation system upon receiving a threshold force. The robust underwater vehicle may also comprise hull sections connected by a threaded turnbuckle. Carbon-fiber axial strength members may mate with the threaded turnbuckle to pull the hull sections together to a specified preload tension. The robust underwater vehicle may also include a blazed sonar array protected by a carbon fiber bow including a plurality of slits. The plurality of slits may provide significant protection to the sonar array while simultaneously allowing one or more transducers to transmit sonar signals in a two-dimensional plane. | 09-18-2014 |
20140272230 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPROVING BUOYANCY IN UNDERWATER VEHICLES - Systems and methods for adding buoyancy to an object are described herein. A buoyant material may be enclosed inside a flexible container, heated, and inserted into a free flooded cavity inside the object. The flexible container may then be formed to the shape of the cavity. After the flexible container is formed to the shape of the cavity, the flexible container may be cooled. The flexible container may hold a pre-determined amount of the syntactic material that provides a fixed amount of buoyancy. According to another aspect, systems and methods for packing a vehicle are described herein. In some embodiments, a buoyant material may be molded into the shape of a hull of a vehicle, and a plurality of cutouts may be extracted from the buoyant material which are specifically designed to incorporate one or more instruments. | 09-18-2014 |
20140272475 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRESSURE TOLERANT ENERGY SYSTEMS - Systems and methods are disclosed herein for a pressure tolerant energy system. The pressure tolerant energy system may comprise a pressure tolerant cavity and an energy system enclosed in the pressure tolerant cavity configured to provide electrical power to the vehicle. The energy system may include one or more battery cells and a pressure tolerant, programmable management circuit. The pressure tolerant cavity may be filled with an electrically-inert liquid, such as mineral oil. In some embodiments, the electrically-inert liquid may be kept at a positive pressure relative to a pressure external to the pressure tolerant cavity. The energy system may further comprise a pressure venting system configured to maintain the pressure inside the pressure tolerant cavity within a range of pressures. The pressure tolerant cavity may be sealed to prevent water ingress. | 09-18-2014 |

20090305291 | METHOD AND A MICRODEVICE FOR THE IDENTIFICATION AND/OR QUANTIFICATION OF AN ANALYTE IN A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE - A method and device, based on a film of a luminescent substance, such as colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals dispersed in a polymer matrix, for conducting quantitative and real-time analyses of PCR processes or of biomolecular interactions in genomics and/or proteomics. The optical detection system is based on FRET processes between the luminescent substance (which acts as the donor in the FRET process) and a suitable fluorophore (which acts as the acceptor species) with which the DNA or other biomolecule is marked. The device is essentially composed of a reaction microchamber with a wall formed by a thin film made of polymer material, in which the nanocrystals are uniformly dispersed, or made of a photoluminescent or electroluminescent polymer. Molecular probes are chemically immobilized on the surface of the polymer film for the specific recognition of the analyte which is to be determined in real time. The film of nanocrystals is excited by radiation at low wavelength (for example, UV/blue), and the radiation in the spectral emission window characteristic of the fluorescent marker of the biomolecule is detected. The specific photophysical characteristics of FRET processes make it possible to monitor in a selective way, in real time and in quantitative mode, the biomolecular interactions, which take place in the close proximity of the surface of the film (typically at distances of <10 nanometres), thus almost completely reducing possible interference caused by background signals and by the free biomolecules in solution (which have not interacted with the corresponding recognition sites). The characteristics of the device also enable simultaneous analyses to be conducted in parallel on different biomolecules (multiplexing). | 12-10-2009 |
