20110143714 | AUTHENTICATING VOICE CALLS FROM MOBILE DEVICES - Aspects relate to authorizing mobile devices for PBX-based voice services. A mobile device calls a PBX over a voice channel, and phone number identifier information is obtained and matched to identifier information for devices that known (authorizeable) to use the PBX. If there is one incoming call that matches to a given device, and an authentication token provided over a data channel matches an authentication token associated with that device, then the device is authorized for voice services. Where there are multiple matching calls, those devices are instructed to provide authentication tokens over their voice channels. The devices can detect absence of a data channel and provide authentication tokens over the voice channels; the devices also can wait to receive a call connected response and in the absence of such provide their authentication tokens over the voice channel. Tokens can be requested and downloaded for storage at the devices. | 06-16-2011 |
20110212708 | OPTIMIZING MOBILE TERMINATED/MOBILE INITIATED CALL LEGS - A PBX can receive a call for a mobile device, and can send a message over a data channel to the mobile device indicating such. The mobile device can open a voice channel for the call. The mobile device inspects information about the call, such as calling party information, and using historical information, such as statistics relating to acceptance of calls from that calling party to predict whether a user of the mobile device is likely to answer the call or not. If the mobile device predicts that the user is probably going to answer the call, then the mobile device begins establishing the voice channel before the user answers the call (e.g., by accepting through the user interface). However, if the mobile device predicts that the user is not going to answer the call, then the mobile device waits until the user actually answers the call to begin establishing the voice channel. | 09-01-2011 |
20120015697 | Speaker Phone Mode Operation of a Mobile Device - A mobile device configured for hands-free operation includes a detection mechanism configured to detect an orientation of the mobile device; a microphone; a speaker that generates audio sound when the mobile device is in a speaker phone mode; and a processor module coupled to the detection mechanism and the speaker. The processor module is adapted to initiate a voice call using a voice dialing mode, where the mobile device dials a telephone number based on commands received through the microphone; determine an active voice call status when the voice call is active; detect a current orientation of the mobile device received from the detection mechanism; determine whether the detected current orientation is within a predetermined threshold that is indicative of a speaker phone mode operating orientation; and switch the mobile device to a speaker phone mode, when the detected current orientation indicates the speaker phone mode operating orientation. | 01-19-2012 |
20120077478 | SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR MOBILE TERMINATED MOBILE INTIATED CALLING - Availability of a call for a mobile device can be signaled over a data channel; to avoid unnecessary airtime charges, an audio channel for the voice call is setup only if a user of the mobile device accepting the call. Responsive to the user accepting the call, the mobile device can signal to a network to establish the audio channel. Establishing the audio channel takes some time. The time in which the audio channel is established is used to output, at the mobile device, supplemental information received over the data channel, such as information about a calling party, such as directory information, organization information, and call history. The outputting of such information during this time period makes a user experience better, because the user is less likely to think that a call has failed by observing an unfilled delay between when the call was accepted through the user interface and when the audio channel is actually available to service the call. | 03-29-2012 |
20120321066 | AUTHENTICATING VOICE CALLS FROM MOBILE DEVICES - Aspects relate to authorizing mobile devices for PBX-based voice services. 20140066343 | LUBRICATION WITH OIL-COMPATIBLE POLYMER BRUSHES - A polymer-brush-based, surface-modification strategy for friction and wear reduction in hard contact under boundary-lubrication conditions is proposed, specifically for a non-aqueous environment. Surface-initiated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerisation (SI-ATRP) was employed for the synthesis of three different oil-compatible, hydrophobic polymer brushes based on alkyl methacrylates. This study presents polymerisation kinetics, chemical characterization by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and surface morphologies observed in atomic force microscopy (AFM). The lubrication properties of the anchored polymers were evaluated macroscopically by means of ball-on-disk methods and on the nanonewton scale by lateral force microscopy (AFM/LFM) and showed significant reduction in friction up to contact pressures as high as 460 MPa. The frictional response of surface-grafted polymers is shown to depend strongly on the compatibility of the polymer with the chosen lubricating fluid. Their good tribological performances have also been proven with watchmaking lubricants. These results do make the prevent invention a suitable candidate for a watchmaking application (such as at the balance pivot or the escapement) in order to increase the efficiency and reliability of the movements. | 03-06-2014 |

20130036239 | SYNCHRONIZATION OF CLOCKS BETWEEN TWO COMMUNICATION TERMINALS USING TCP/IP - Clocks of communication terminals can be synchronized using packets over TCP/IP. In one example, an Internet Protocol packet is received at the first terminal from the second terminal, the packet having a time stamp indicating the time at which it was sent from the second terminal. The time is determined at which the packet arrived at the first terminal and compared to the time stamp to determine a minimal feasible bias. The determined minimal feasible bias is compared to a stored bias and the stored bias is set to the determined minimal feasible bias if the stored bias is less than the minimal feasible bias. 20110260427 | SOUND MAKER FOR USE ON A BICYCLE - A sound generating apparatus includes a substantially U-shaped member having first and second panels, inner surface and outer surfaces. An arcuate section can be positioned on the inner surface of the U-shaped member for receiving and frictionally engaging a part of a bicycle fork. Two hollow ear sections can be positioned on the outer surface of the U-shaped member, each of the ear sections having an outer side and an inner side whereby exerting pressure on the outer sides of the ear sections widens an opening defined by the arcuate section to receive the bicycle fork part, and releasing the pressure on the ear sections allows the arcuate section to tighten around the bicycle fork part and frictionally engage the bicycle fork part. The arcuate section can define an arc of about 220 degrees. | 10-27-2011 |

20120006277 | AUTOMATED OPEN OCEAN FISH FARM STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS FOR OPEN OCEAN FISH FARMING - An autonomous open-ocean fish-farming structure has a submersible cage enclosure tethered to a topside buoy. The topside buoy stores feed, is equipped with radio telemetry to communicate positioning signals transmitted from external sources, and generates electrical power using, for example, a hybrid solar OTEC heat engine. The structure is navigated and maintained in a geostationary position within the ocean environment by means of position-correction technology and is propelled by thrusters attached to the cage enclosure and, optionally, to the underside of the topside buoy. The self-positioning, self-powered fish-farming structure enables unmanned, extended marine deployment in deeper ocean waters without the need for tethering or anchoring to the ocean floor. Multiple structures can be maintained in a spaced apart configuration to comprise a flotilla of fish farming structures attended by a tender ship that is autonomous, easily serviced and conveniently relocated. | 01-12-2012 |
