Abstract:
A pants support structure for cinching a pair of pants between the
structure and a belt. The pants support structure has a support body with
a first and second edge with at least one fastening member on the first
edge. The fastening member is a hook that receives a belt and lies over
the pants so that the pair of pants is cinched between the support body
and the belt. The support body has an opening for receiving the button of
the pants to provide further force to cinch the pants between the
fastening member and the support body.Claims:
1. A pants support structure comprising: a support body having a first
and second edge; at least one fastening member secured to the first edge
of the support body and having a hook for receiving a belt; and an
opening in the support body for receiving a button on the pants such that
the pants are cinched between the support body and the hook.
2. The pants support structure of claim 1 further comprising a rib element secured to the support body to support the support body.
3. The pants support structure of claim 1 further comprising a cover member attached to the support body for covering the opening.
Description:
CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/249,653 filed Oct. 8, 2009.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] This invention relates to a support system. More specifically, this invention relates to a support system for holding up a pair of pants.
[0003] For many years individuals have used methods in order to try to hold up pants so they do not fall from around their waist. These methods include using a belt that tightens pants around a person's waist, wearing suspenders that hold up a person's pants or the like. While these methods help with an individual to hold their pants around their waist, problems still remain. Specifically, belts are not always sufficient to hold pants and an individual's pants can still have a tendency to fall down causing the individual to constantly have to pull up on their pants. Alternatively, belts can be worn too tight to ensure pants stay on thus creating discomfort for the wearer. Similarly, many people find suspenders annoying to wear and do not believe they are aesthetically pleasing to other individuals.
[0004] Therefore, a principal object of the present invention is to provide a support device for holding up a pair of pants.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] A pants support structure that has a support body with a first and second edge. There is at least one fastening member that is secured to the first edge of the support body and has a hook for receiving a belt and an opening in the support body for receiving a button of a pair of pants such that the pants are cinched between the support body and the hooks.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0006] FIG. 1 is a side perspective view of a pants support structure;
[0007] FIG. 2 is a back plan view of a pants supports structure;
[0008] FIG. 3 is a front plan view of an alternative embodiment of a pants support structure; and
[0009] FIG. 4 is a back plan view of an alternative embodiment of a pants support structure.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0010] The pants support structure 10 is shown in the figures. The pants support structure 10 has a support body 12 with a first and second edge 14 and 16 wherein in one embodiment each edge 14 and 16 is curved so that the support structure is of size and shape to fit around an individual's stomach. The support body 12 itself is typically made of a hardened plastic material and is resilient to help provide support for pants. At the first edge 14 a plurality of fastening members 18 are provided that can fit on or receive an individual's belt. In one embodiment these fastening members 18 are a hook 20 that is fastened to the support body using a fabric or string 22. The position of the fastening member 18 is adjustable to provide better support and comfort. In another embodiment there are a plurality of fastening members 18 adjacent the hip bone of the wearer to provide additional support.
[0011] The support body 12 additionally has an opening 24 therein to accommodate the button of an individual's pair of pants. In one embodiment attached to the support body is a cover member 26 that covers the opening of the button. Adjacent the opening 24 and centrally located on the support body 12 is a rib element 28. The rib element 28 can be a single flexible tubing piece, a protruding piece of plastic or the like. Specifically the rib 28 protrudes outwardly from the support body 12. The support body 12 also has a plurality of openings 30 that receive a fabric strip 32, such as a shoe lace from the backside of the support body 12 out to the front side that pushes against the abdomen for additional strength and support.
[0012] In an alternative embodiment as shown in FIG. 4 the support structure is made of two-piece construction wherein connecting members are fastened to either side of the two pieces of the structure in order to fasten them together to provide a conform shape that matches with an individual's stomach. The rib is formed as a result of the two pieces intersecting causing a protruding section across the connection seam 34. In one embodiment these connecting members 36 are made from metal.
[0013] In another alternative embodiment a denim cover is provided around the support body 12 so that the support structure 10 can blend with a pair of denim jeans without being noticed by others. While the cover is shown as denim the cover can be other materials such as khaki, corduroy or the like to blend in with a pair of pants.
[0014] In operation, the support structure 10 is placed on one's stomach with the fastening elements 18 positioned to be adjacent an individual's belt. An individual can place the button of their pants through the opening 24 of the support body to attach the support structure to their pants. An individual's pants are positioned in between the support body and the fastening members 18 and a belt is then run through the fastening members 18. As the belt is tightened the pants are cinched between the fastening members 18 and support body and the fastening members prevent the support structure from tilting and/or pivoting away from the body from the point of tension created by the tightened belt. The rib element 28 pushes outward against a seam on the pants to provide additional support. Thus, provided is a support structure that adds additional support for holding up an individual's pants in place.
[0015] It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that other various modifications could be made to the device without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention. All such modifications and changes fall within the scope of the claims and are intended to be covered thereby.
